About Me:
|
Retired Power Plant Electrician (25 years) (CP) (field engineer). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For those who haven't looked me up on QRZ . W9WLS is a "VANITY CALL", I requested it for two reasons.
1. Back in the early 60's I had a summer job at WLS as a "GOPHER" (had a lot of fun and learned a few things).
2. I also changed the call from N9REN to irritate certain members of A locale "CLUB" who had/have the idea that If "THE CLUB" doesn't approve it you can't do it.(Life is too short for such NARROW MINDED THINKING ). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I probably should have stayed in broadcasting but being young & dumb went on to other things.
We have 4 grown children, two girls (who have no interest in ham radio) and two boys Jim W9GNG who is a network engineer (easiest way I can explain what sort of work he's in) and Jeff WA9DDK who is a fuel service specialist on contract to a major fueling equipment manufacture (spends most of his day's running all over Georgia and into Alabama fixing "STUPID"). My wife, Edna N9UKI and I are retired and currently trying to figure out just how I ever had time to go to work in the first place (this retirement thing is a bigger job than I ever thought it would be, but at least I'm not making some "TEAM LEADER" who is basically clueless look good).

Other Information:
|
Have been licensed off and on since 1954. 6+ years Military (Army +) , 5 tours R.V.N. (5th S.F.G.).
Usually find me around 7.180 - 7.195 or 7.251 . If I'm up early I am generally listening to 1.865. Sometimes check into the AAU pre-net on 3.855. If it's a "CONTEST" weekend I'll be on 18.130 or 17 meters in general . I really don't care for contests except for Field Day .
