My wife (KI4GTV) and I purchased two Wouxun KG-UV3D's a couple of months ago. We regularly participate in events in our county, and got these to use as "cheap" dual band hand-helds. The thought was, I'd much prefer to have to drop another $120 to replace one of these, then $250+ to replace a "good" dual band hand-held.
Can't speak for KI4GTV, but I'm actually pleased with the performance of these radios. The receive is very sensitive, and the battery has pretty good life (and it being LIon, they won't develop a charging memory). The down sides are: ease of programming. Three words: get the cable!

Also, this radio isn't a true dual bander. You can't listen to both receivers at the same time. Still, for $120, I'm not going to complain (well, too loudly).
