The Big Day Approaches for Our School - Hope I can count on a few of the Brethren on Ham Radio Nation to listen out for us?

GB2GVS Wednesday 23rd May 2012 0800 to 1400 UTC

A small group of local amateurs in the North Norfolk Area of the United Kingdom are running a special event station GB2GVS. Gresham Village School is a small 80 pupil school with an age group of 6 years to 11 years of age. The SES is via D-Star Digital Radio with the hope to link up with other Schools around the world for the children to pass greetings to each other. The date for the event is 23rd May 2012. We have at present approx 10 Countries participating and am working with other amateurs worldwide to facilitate the event. If you are interested in setting up a Dstar link at your local school in your country, please get in touch with me for further details at the following email address 2e0aiv@2e0aiv.co.uk We feel that as well as being a benefit to the amateur radio community, it is a wonderful opportunity to engage young people in the world of technology, as they go through the path of their lives. All enqs are welcome. Don't be shy, you too can put something back into your community!

Note !
This station will also be available via Echolink on the GB3NU analogue Repeater - Give us a call - you will be welcomed by our Children.

For those amongst us that cannot make it - we will be running the station GB2GVS on HF PSK/RTTY for seven days Only - Dont Miss Out !

see QRZ for more details under SES callsign GB2GVS.

 Thankyou.
 Andy

Just Completed a very successful day operating GB2GVS (Greham Village School) - This is a small rural school with only sixty children - Great day was had by all - All children between the age of 6 and 10 years of age. We had 41 of the children through the station, all wrote out and sent their name in Morse Code and were awarded a certificate. All 41 spoke on the Radio to pass greetings and ask questions, their radio procedure would put a lot of Hams to shame hi hi. The following countries were spoken to USA, Canada, Japan, UK, Switzerland and Norway. It was so popular that at the end of the day 20 children came back for another go on the radios. All the Children will receive a School Radio Day Certificate on Friday at the school assembly. i would like to thank all the participating Stations for taking the time to talk to our children and giving something back to the hobby. Thanks Guys you were great.  Cheesy
