Have been using CW for many years and sometimes will wake up very early, perhaps 4 AM here on the East Coast of the USA. Many times we have lucked out and caught some very rare DX on 40 or 20 metres or even 12/15 metres now with the good sun spots.. Using CW tends to wake up brain cells since I have noticed I am more capable of resolving problems afterwards. I did read somewhere that people uing Morse Code has a better IQ than others? All I know is, I love it and it is easier than using voice modes.

I have a good friend that once told me that when he has trouble sleeping at night, he goes out into his shack, turns on the rig, and listens to some CW. He's been working CW since his Navy days (Radioman), and he said it puts him in the right frame of mind to go to sleep. I've never tested it though. Perhaps I will, the next time I have trouble getting to sleep.

That is my experience as well. Sometimes I feel mentally refreshed after listening to some CW or having a QSO in CW. It resolves stress and resets certain tensions preventing you from falling asleep.
