I just picked one of these up and could use some advice as far as setting it up to work best. I am not very skilled in the audiophile department. Plus I think I am tone deaf. LOL... Please Help.

Ken:
I use the 110 with a C-1 mic.on a boom and a foot switch and "LOVE IT" !

If you do not have the manual go to the web site and D/L it , otherwise put in LEARN MODE with your normal ambient background noise and play with it .
Either set up another receiver and run your xmtr into a dummy load and play with the settings while monitoring OR get a friend who lives close that KNOWS you and your voice to help you tweek the settings ( no matter how well YOU monitor , on the air will sound a bit different).

Thanks John. I was hoping on some settings to start from but I have been playing with it most of the night and think I have found a sweet spot. So far seems like a very useful little box. I am using the B1 on a studio arm with a foot switch as well.

Ken:
The reason I did not give you any settings is fairly simple, If you set-up a "monitor" and put the 110 in learn mode it will do a good job of setting it's self, also every set-up is a bit different as to room size and ambient noise conditions.
One thing I will recommend is to NOT use any delay of any kind (will make you sound like one of those GOOD-BUDDY's you often hear on Ch-19 CB).
Keep in mind that the 110 is a piece of STAGE / STUDIO equipment and not really intended for broadcast / ham use therefore it CAN widen out your transmitters audio (drive it nuts) rather easily (A.K.A. SPLATTER).
I started playing some years ago with a CARVIN 12 channel board looped into a BEHRINGER COMPOSER and a BEHERINGER FEEDBACK DESTROYER then to the transmitter (still have that set-up) but the 110 will do everything that mass of equipment can do (except for having 12 inputs) with a much smaller foot print .
KEEP IN MIND it's real easy to "OVER DRIVE" your transmitter audio (thus causing splatter) it's not an easy thing to get BROADCAST QUALITY AUDIO and a tight bandwidth !
One thing I would recommend in the audio chain is the use of "LINE ISOLATOR"S" before the transmitter (1:1 transformers) to help keep stray hum and other noise out of the loop.
Good Luck & 73, John

I guess I am just not understanding the compression settings. this does not have a learn function. also at the moment I am not using this one a transceiver I am using it on the computer for podcasts but will eventually end up on the audio chain into my radio.

Can I ask what your compression settings are?

I'm setting at +2db on compression, but that's into the radio.
The Shark is much OVER-KILL for most computer sound card's but if that's what float's your boat COOL !
You should be able to plug a set of cans (good quality) into the puter and monitor what your LIVE audio sounds like and adjust from there, since you are using the puter there are also several O-scope programs on the web ( I believe there there are one or two on that disk I sent you , If you can find it ) as well as Audio spectrum analyzer programs which will help you "SHAPE" the output audio.

Beyond that your back to "TWEAK & SQUEAK " , any settings I would give you would most likely be no where near right for your situation !
